Jack the Ripper: POV, acrylic on wood panels, 2013.
Window interior/exterior—to create an inside and outside which caused us some kind of emotion or feeling. I chose anxiety, despair and anger. I have always had a fascination with the Ripper murders, but after seeing Otto Dix’s series of Sex Murders, I knew I had to try my own take on it.
I tried to use Dix’s technique of Expressionist painting, but also carried a narrative. The First is the Ripper’s POV, looking at the woman. The Second, is from the woman’s POV, as she is lying dead on the street, sideways.
